Description
A tower of rock carved by eons of wind erosion stands upon a hillock facing the entrance of a hidden canyon in the Utah desert. At sunrise, the canyon cliffs burned orange in the light, leaving the spire silhouetted against the clear August morning skies. Taken on August 26, 2024 at 7:03am MDT.
I visited this structure twice, once in the afternoon the day before, and again the following morning, both times ending up as the only person in the canyon for most of the time I was there, leaving the air silent, only the howl of the wind as it whipped through the rocky funnels. Having felt that force of nature, it’s no wonder how the wind carved such a structure over the course of millennia.
